Chapter 6: Wife

[2]They have like inner garments and outer garments and they have pockets in the inside of the outer garment.
[3]Gao tang is the second step of bowing (kowtow actually where they go all the way down and have their foreheads touch the floor) that takes place in Chinese marriage first they bow to Tian Di heaven and earth. Gao Tang is usually directed to bowing to the parents.
[4]Previously said but as Wang Ye is like a Duke Wang Fei the wife of Wang Ye would be a Duchess.
[5]Not brothers by blood but friendly juniors.
[6]Xie Gan is a steelyard(could be wooden) that they use to lift the xi pa. It's said the 16 graduation marks on the beam of a steelyard corresponded to the seven stars of prosperity, high position, and long life.
